Fuel Cost Calculator

Estimate the total fuel cost for a trip based on distance and mileage.

How it works

Enter the total trip distance (in km or miles), your vehicle's fuel efficiency (km per litre or MPG), and the current fuel price per litre. The calculator instantly shows the total fuel cost for your trip.

Why use this tool?

Plan road trips, calculate daily commute costs, or compare fuel expenses between vehicles. Essential for fleet managers, truck drivers, and budget-conscious travelers.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is fuel cost calculated?
Fuel cost = (Distance ÷ Fuel Efficiency) × Fuel Price. For a 300 km trip at 15 km/L efficiency with petrol at ₹105/L: (300 ÷ 15) × 105 = ₹2,100 total fuel cost.
What is a good fuel efficiency for a car?
For petrol cars in India, 15–20 km/L is considered good. Diesel cars typically achieve 18–25 km/L. For highway trips, efficiency is usually 15–20% better than city driving.
Can I compare costs for two vehicles?
Run the calculator twice — once for each vehicle — and compare the total costs. The difference shows exactly how much you save per trip by choosing the more fuel-efficient vehicle.
Is this free?
Yes, completely free. Works for km/L and MPG with any fuel price.
